Waivers
AHEAD Scholar Tuition Waiver for Students from Underrepresented Groups

Description: The AHEAD Scholar Tuition Waiver rewards new allied health students from under-represented groups for high academic achievement, leadership, and service. Preference will be given to Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, American Indian/Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander students, or other profession- or program-specific under-represented groups.

Eligible AHP Programs: Incoming students to the Programs in Cardiopulmonary Science, Cardiovascular Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Physician Assistant.

Number of Awards: A total of eight AHEAD Scholar Tuition Waivers will be available each academic year.

Amount: The award amount shall equal the amount of in-state tuition. Recipients are responsible for paying required university fees, including the non-resident fees. Renewable each semester when criteria are met.

Selection Process: The AHEAD Scholar Tuition Waiver recipients are selected through a competitive application process. CLICK HERE to view the application. A committee of faculty appointed by the Dean makes the selection. Due to the limited number of available waivers, not all students from underrepresented groups are guaranteed an AHEAD Scholar Tuition Waiver.

Non-Resident Fee Waiver for AR and TX Residents (CPS, MLS, and SLP only)
- Description: New students in the Cardiopulmonary Science, Cardiovascular Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, and Speech-Language Pathology programs who are residents of Texas or Arkansas are eligible for the Non-Resident Fee Waiver. Students enrolled in the Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy programs are ineligible for the Non-Resident Fee Waiver. Per LSU System PM 31 guidelines, students with these VISA classifications are also ineligible for a Non-Resident Fee Exemption: B, C, D, F, J, M or Q.
- Amount: Amount equals the amount of the non-resident fee for the recipient’s respective program. Renewable each semester when criteria are met.
- Selection Process: Submit Non-Resident Fee Waiver Form to the Admissions Office at ShvAHStudentAffairs@lsuhs.edu.
- Selection Committee: A selection committee is not required. Eligibility for a Non-Resident Fee Waiver is based on a student’s official place of residency.
Scholarships
School of Allied Health - Board of Supervisors Scholarship
- Description: The purpose of the LSU Board of Supervisors Scholarship program is to recognize and support students attending LSU entities who by their educational pursuits contribute positively to Louisiana’s and society’s prosperity and well-being. The scholarship program’s mission is to financially assist LSU degree-seeking individuals in achieving academic and career success by providing annual tuition-based scholarships in consideration of a student’s academic potential, individual achievement, or personal circumstances.
- Eligible AHP Programs: Current students in the Cardiopulmonary Science, Cardiovascular Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Physician Assistant Programs.
- Number of Awards: Amount varies based on program-specific criteria.
- Amount: Amount varies based on available funding. One-time, non-renewable award.
- Selection Process: No application. Nominees are selected per program-specific criteria. A committee of faculty appointed by the Dean makes the selection.

Physical Therapy Achievement Scholarship
- Description: This scholarship is designed to recognize and reward high-achieving students accepted into the Physical Therapy Program. It is intended to provide financial assistance to those students who demonstrate exceptional academic and professional potential.
- Eligible AHP Programs: Incoming students to the Physical Therapy Program.
- Number of Awards: Three awards are reserved for new students starting each summer term.
- Amount: $5000 each year ($2500 fall and spring). Renewable each semester when criteria are met.
- Selection Process: No application. To be considered for this scholarship, students should submit an application for admission via PTCAS. Nominees are selected per program-specific criteria.

Physician Assistant Enrollment Scholarships
- Description: This scholarship is designed to recognize and reward high-achieving students accepted into the Physician Assistant Program. It is intended to provide financial assistance to those students who demonstrate exceptional academic and professional potential.
- Eligible AHP Programs: Incoming students to the Physician Assistant (PA) Program.
- Number of Awards: Varies based on available funding.
- Amount: Amount varies based on available funding. This is a one-time, non-renewable scholarship award.
- Selection Process: No application. To be considered for this scholarship, students should submit an application for admission via CASPA. Nominees are selected per program-specific criteria.

Speech-Language Pathology Scholarships
Speech-Language Pathology Scottish Rite Speech and Hearing Scholarship
- Description: This scholarship is for two SLP students who are enrolled in clinical practicum. The two students receive the scholarship and work with children who are receiving therapy through the Scottish Rite Speech and Hearing Clinic. This scholarship is funded by the Louisiana Scottish Rite.
- Eligible AHP Programs: Current students in the Speech-Language Pathology Program.
- Number of Awards: Two per semester
- Amount: $500.00 summer semester; $1250 for fall and spring semesters; a student can receive the scholarship for no more than 3 semesters.
- Selection Process: Recipients are selected through a competitive application process.

Speech-Language Pathology Mollie Webb/Charlotte Webb Scholarships
- Description: This scholarship is for students who are in good standing academically and clinically. This scholarship is funded by the Webb Family.
- Eligible AHP Programs: Second year students in the Speech-Language Pathology Program.
- Number of Awards: Varies based on available funding.
- Amount: Amount varies based on available funding. This is a one-time, non-renewable scholarship award.
- Selection Process: Recipients are selected through a competitive application process.

Speech-Language Pathology Boomer Scholarship
- Description: This scholarship is for students who have demonstrated a high level of caring and compassion for clients.
- Eligible AHP Programs: Current students in the Speech-Language Pathology Program.
- Number of Awards: One per year
- Amount: Amount varies based on available funding. This is a one-time, non-renewable scholarship award.
- Selection Process: No application. Nominees are selected per program-specific criteria.

Speech-Language Pathology Research Scholarship
- Description: This scholarship is for a student who has demonstrated outstanding research accomplishments (e.g., study, literature review, etc.). This scholarship is funded by the SLP faculty’s donated royalties from authoring textbooks.
- Eligible AHP Programs: Current students in the Speech-Language Pathology Program.
- Number of Awards: One per year
- Amount: $100. This is a one-time, non-renewable scholarship award.
- Selection Process: No application. Nominees are selected per program-specific criteria.

Description: A cash award is presented annually to a graduating student who has demonstrated excellence in research and academics.

Description: A cash award is presented annually to a graduating student who has demonstrated excellence in service and volunteerism.

Eligible AHP Programs: Graduating students in the Cardiopulmonary Science, Cardiovascular Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Physician Assistant Programs.
- Number of Awards: One per year
- Amount: $500 cash award. This is a one-time, non-renewable scholarship award.
- Selection Process: No application. A committee of faculty appointed by the Dean makes the selection

Alumni Ambassador Award
- Description: A graduating student from each of the following programs is selected annually for the Alumni Ambassador Award funded by the LSU Health Shreveport Foundation. Eligible students include those that have served on SGA or as a class officer and Student of the Month awardees. Recipients are chosen based on outstanding service to the program, School, and University, and shall serve as the representative for their graduating class for all future alumni events.
- Eligible AHP Programs: Graduating students in the Cardiopulmonary Science, Cardiovascular Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Physician Assistant (PA), Public Health Programs.
- Number of Awards: Eight per year
- Amount: $100 cash award. This is a one-time, non-renewable scholarship award.
- Selection Process: No application. A committee of faculty appointed by the Dean makes the selection.

Cardiopulmonary Science Ronald B. George Clinical Excellence Award
- Description: A cash award is presented annually to a student that faithfully executes quality respiratory and/or clinical care as evidenced by incident-free clinical rotations and preceptor and/or faculty verification of quality patient care. This award is sponsored by the Department of Medicine, Section of Pulmonary & Critical Care.
- Eligible AHP Programs: Graduating student in the Cardiopulmonary Science Program
- Number of Awards: One per year
- Amount: $500. This is a one-time, non-renewable scholarship award.

Outstanding Cardiopulmonary Science Student Award
- Description: A cash award is presented annually to a student whose characteristics promote academic excellence, professionalism, and overall quality.

- Amount: $500. This is a one-time, non-renewable scholarship award.

Outstanding Speech-Language Pathology Student Scholarship
- Description: This scholarship is presented annually to a recent graduate who was well rounded and performed well clinically, academically, and showed good interpersonal skills.
- Eligible AHP Programs: Alumni of the Speech-Language Pathology Program.
- Number of Awards: One per year
- Amount: $100. This is a one-time, non-renewable scholarship award.

Speech-Language Pathology Alumni Scholarship
- Description: This scholarship is presented annually to a program alumnus who has given back to the profession, community, and/or program.
